R amon Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, a Nigerian Instagram celebrity awaiting sentencing by a United States court, has regretted his involvement in the fraudulent schemes for which he has been detained since June 2020. Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate (UAE), in June 2020, and subsequently taken to the US, where he pleaded guilty to the charges in July 2021. The trial judge, Otis Wright, has fixed 7 November as the date to sentence Hushpuppi, according to a court’s notice obtained by PREMIUM TIMES.  Ahead of his sentencing, Hushpuppi begged for leniency in a three-page hand-written letter he sent to the judge from the Central Valley Annex Prions in McFarland, California. The Police Service Commission (PSC), on Tuesday, dismissed seven senior police officers over gross misconduct. The Commission also approved the reduction in rank of ten other officers. The decisions were taken during the continuation of the 15th plenary meeting of the Commission. Daily Trust reports that the meeting is expected to end on Thursday, October 6th, 2022. The meeting, presided over by its acting chairman, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, considered all the Pending Disciplinary Matters (PDM) before the Commission. The PDMs, which totalled 47 and also treated some appeals from dismissed Police Officers. Addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting in Abuja, the spokesman of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani said, the dismissed officers include: 1 CSP, 1 SP and 5 ASPs. He added that one SP was also retired in public interest. The Commission reduced the ranks of 1 CSP to SP, 3 SPs to DSP, and 2 DSPs to ASPs.   The police in Ogun State have arrested two women, Christiana D’ivoire Iyama and Margaret Ogwu, for operating a baby factory. The police stormed the factory located at No 4 on Ibrahim Famuyiwa Street, Agbado in Ifo LGA. The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday. He said the suspects were arrested following information received by police at Agbado Division that the first suspect was operating a baby factory where she harboured girls and hired men to impregnate them. He explained that upon delivery the woman would take possession of the babies and sell them at N400,000 each to her waiting buyers. China became the first country to approve a needle-free, inhaled version of a Covid-19 vaccine made by Tianjin-based CanSino Biologics Inc., pushing the company’s shares up as much as 14.5% Monday morning in Hong Kong. China’s National Medical Products Administration approved CanSino’s Ad5-nCoV for emergency use as a booster vaccine, the company said in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Sunday. The vaccine is a new version of CanSino’s one-shot Covid drug, the first in the world to undergo human testing in March 2020 and which has been used in China, Mexico, Pakistan, Malaysia and Hungary after being rolled out in February 2021. The inhaled version can stimulate cellular immunity and induce mucosal immunity to boost protection without intramuscular injection, CanSino said.
